The Gordon School

Love and Justice in Action

Tuesday, May 2nd, 6:30pm

above: Leah Harrison-Lurie '16 and Maddie Lee '16 returned to Gordon last spring to talk with faculty about the profound impact the Civil Rights Trip has had on their high school experiences

Every year since 2002, Gordon’s eighth graders have spent four days in Georgia and Alabama, visiting historic sites from the Civil Rights Movement and meeting with activists who are continuing to work for positive change in their communities. It’s a culmination of the eighth grade humanities curriculum, but also an experience that builds on conversations and lessons that begin in Gordon’s youngest grades.

The story of the trip is up at www.gordonschool.org/civilrights

Join us May 2nd to hear eighth graders’ reflections on this year’s trip, and learn more about how Gordon’s schoolwide multicultural curriculum prepares graduates to be advocates for racial justice.
