The Gordon School

Carnival 2023

Saturday, May 20th from 10am to 3pm

Rain or shine!

The Gordon Carnival dates back to 1957, a history that spans over half of Gordon's age! While this event has changed shape over the years, love has always been at its core, along with a desire to celebrate the Gordon community and connect with our neighbors.

Gordon hasn’t had a full-scale Carnival since 2019. This year, Carnival is back and expanding its impact with a community raffle, a silent auction, rides, games, and activities for all ages including a carousel, bungee trampoline, obstacle courses and more!

New for this year: all rides and activities will be free! Gordon's Carnival will continue to be the school's largest fundraising event, but the focus will be on raising resources through sponsorship and donations, and shifting away from ticket sales for rides and activities.

Carnival will be Saturday, May 20th from 10am to 3pm, rain or shine, open to students, parents, alumni and their parents, grandfriends, friends, and community members.

Carnival runs on volunteers!

There are dozens of ways to help make this year's Carnival the best one ever. Choose your adventure at www.gordonschool.org/carnivalvolunteer

Register to unlock all the action

In order to participate fully in Carnival, everyone is asked to register in advance using the form at www.gordonschool.org/carnival. Having registrations in advance will help us plan the food, and help ensure that everyone has all the ride waivers they need.

When families preregister, they will receive a packet which will include wristbands for entry, and tickets for free food items. Food and drink will also be available for purchase.

Packets will be available for pickup in the Commons beginning Monday, May 15th, and registrations can be done in-person during drop off that week. Walk-ups will also be welcomed at Carnival.

What about the fundraising?

The fundraising will happen through our community raffle and the silent auction. Carnival attendees will also be able to make a direct donation at a level that is meaningful to them.

Thank you to our Carnival sponsors! Any money raised through the raffle, the auction and donations will go directly to supporting the Gordon Fund.

Silent Auction and Community Raffle

The Silent Auction and Community Raffle will feature donations from Rhode Island businesses, restaurants, designers and friends.

Silent Auction items are organized into thematic capsules — a tour of the thriving Providence food scene with gift cards from supporters including Ceremony Tea, Oberlin, Pizza Marvin, Broadway Bistro and Bayberry Garden; opportunities to move your body at Providence Brazilian Jiu Hitsu and Rare Form Pilates, and then relax and recover with acupuncture treatments from Yvette Koch; opportunities for family exploration and play with passes to the Rockspot Gym, R1 Racing and the RISD Museum, and science kits from Thames and Kosmos; a full picnic set up with woven textile by Namu Future, basket of provisions from Hawes Fine Foods and books from Twenty Stories; and unique art objects from our incredibly talented parent community. All this and more!
