Cendhi Arias

Cendhi was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Her family moved to the United States when she was a second grader, the same age as her current students! She earned a BA in Human Development and Family Studies at the University of RI with a certification in Early Childhood Education in 2005. While going to college, she worked full time at Brown University. A dear colleague introduced her to the Gordon School and shared its mission.

In 2007, after teaching in the Providence Public Schools for two years, Cendhi joined Gordon's teaching faculty as a second grade teacher. She enjoys watching the tremendous growth and independence that second graders develop throughout the school year. She strives to foster in each student a sense of pride and ownership over their learning.

Cendhi is also a facilitator for Common Ground, an affinity group for students of color in Lower School. In her years at Gordon, she has worked on curriculum development, attended various professional development workshops and obtained several certifications in literacy.

Cendhi enjoys patterns, textures, watching HGTV and anything related to interior design. She especially loves moving furniture around her house and her classroom. She has a young daughter who attends Gordon.
