Natasha Connolly '20

Natasha Connolly '20, Rhode Island’s Youth Poet Ambassador, visited seventh grade classes in April. 

Seventh grade is deep into their yearlong study of poetry, and Natasha indulged Ms. Paull by reading some her own seventh grade classwork as well as more recent work.

Students listened eagerly, but they were even more eager to read their own work for her and get her critiques. Seventh graders are practicing reading their work aloud, in preparation for the annual Night of Words, where they each will perform their own writing for friends, family and one another. 

In May, Natasha will be representing Rhode Island at the national round of the Poetry Out Loud competition in May. She was chosen from a wide range of performance poets from high schools across Rhode Island.
