Norma Barsom-Morcos was born, raised and educated in Syria. Her first language is Arabic and she brings her bilingual, bicultural heritage to Gordon’s Nursery classroom. After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, she taught for five years and was part of administration for another five years before moving to the U.S.

Norma attended Providence College and graduated with another Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts and Science. Norma worked toward her Master’s degree in Elementary Education at Rhode Island College. She joined Gordon School in 2001 as a substitute teacher working throughout the school. She also served as a long term substitute in first grade, Preschool and Nursery. In 2007 she joined the Nursery team.

Norma loves the concept of learning through play and appreciates how three- and four-year-old children approach learning with wide-eyed wonder. Norma is also the parent of a young Gordon student.
