Gordon's Online Learning Community is launching the spring after school programs season beginning Monday, April 20th.

In thinking through changes to after school programs for the spring of 2020, two goals were kept front of mind: the practical need to have children cared for and constructively engaged between 3:00pm and 5:00pm every day, and the task of providing students with the teamwork, community-building and skill-building experiences that happen in all of Gordon's on-campus after school programs.

Below, families will find dozens of opportunities for students of all ages to engage with one another and with coaches, instructors, and teaching artists every week.

Athletics and the musical require a student commitment through the end of the year, but the other programs will be scheduled on a week-to-week basis.

All of these programs are offered as part of the Gordon tuition, with no additional charge.

COVID-19 may stop us from interscholastic play but it will not stop Gordon students from donning the green and white. Nor will it prevent Gordon from playing, training, and pursuing the objectives of an ambitious, inclusive and joyful athletic program.

Every Middle School student who wants to participate on a Gordon athletic team and wear a Gordon jersey this spring, will!

All real-time team activities will take place between 3pm and 3:45pm, allowing students to participate in athletics as well as the Middle School musical.

The COVID-19 pandemic creates unique challenges for any activity meant to be practiced in real time and space. Live theater might just be the antithesis of social distancing. However, the goal driving Gordon’s after school theater continues: building community, relationships, empathy, and cooperation through the process of making plays.

Rehearsals will take place between 3:45 and 5:00, Monday through Friday. Not all students will be called for every rehearsal. students can expect to be scheduled for thirty minute sessions between one and three times each week. They may be called to be in proctored break out Zoom rooms with other cast members, and then asked to enter specific separate rehearsal for a period of time.
