This year, the group is led by parent Jess Cronin and Assistant Head of School for Institutional Advancement and Community Engagement Veronica Jutras.
Overview
The Rainbow Family Alliance is the informal network of Gordon families who are part of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, and intersex communities. Since 2012, this group has hosted several events a year. Everyone is welcome.
Gordon has a long-standing commitment to the LGBTQ community, represented by:
- Social gatherings and workshops organized by the Rainbow Family Alliance
- Recognition of the National Day of Silence in the Middle School, since 2006
- A Gender and Sexuality Alliance in Middle School, meeting weekly since fall 2015
- A comprehensive set of guidelines on how gender identity is affirmed and social transitions are supported among students and adults
- A rich collection of LGBTQ-positive literature and resources in the library, with titles appropriate for every age
