An evening with Veronica Agarwal and Lee Durfey-Lavoie
Tuesday, December 5th at 6:30pm
The team behind Just Roll With It will be giving a presentation to parents and caregivers on the first night of the GCA Book Fair in December.
Just Roll With It is a middle grade graphic novel about a girl beginning middle school who is facing typical sixth grade challenges as well as obsessive compulsive disorder and a neighborhood monster.
Agarwal has said “I really wanted to create an accessible book for kids that would start the conversation about mental health,” and early reviews indicate that she and Durfey-Lavoie succeeded! Kirkus's complete review is here
Agarwal and Lee Durfey-Lavoie will talk about their work process, their own school careers, and the experience of representing students who are not neurotypical. The presentation will allow plenty of time for questions and back-and-forth with the creators.
Veronica Agarwal is a cartoonist and illustrator from New York City with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in cartooning from the School of Visual Arts. Her work focuses on mental health, coming of age stories, and friendship.
Lee Durfey-Lavoie is a writer who loves writing queer stories, stories about workers’ rights, and about all different types of fantasy worlds.
