We are so excited to be back on the hardwood.

Thanks so much for signing up in time. This season is coming up soon!

There was a Zoom to go over this plan with parents and caregivers, 6:30pm on Monday the 22nd. Look for a recording coming soon from Mr. Ray or Mr. Burnstein.

This year's basketball plan looks like this:

All coaches, players, referees and spectators will be masked.

The dates

Basketball season starts Tuesday November 30th for sixth, seventh and eighth grades. The basketball season for sixth, seventh and eighth grades will run from November 30th until February 24th. The tournament is Saturday the 26th.
Fifth grade basketball will be coed and will start practice after winter break on January 5th. They will have practices twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays only. They will be off campus on Wednesdays and practice will run from 3:15-4:15 and Fridays they will be on campus and practice from 2:15-3:15. The season will end on February 18th.

Static rosters and basketball pods

Boys teams will be organized by grade - A, B and C for eighth, seventh and sixth - due to current high participation numbers.

Girls teams will be split into an eighth grade A team and a B team made up of seventh and sixth graders.

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders are welcome to join the Boys or Girls teams.

Fifth graders of all genders will be together in an instructional team.

Practices will be held in the Nelson Field House as well as the JCC in Providence and Teamworks in Warwick.

Practices run from 3:15-5:30 and each team will practice for one hour each day. Practices are Monday to Thursday for sixth, seventh and eighth grades. Fifth grade practice on Fridays as well as Wednesdays.

There will be an early practice and a late practice. The early practice will start at 3:30 and end at 4:30. The late practice will run from 4:30-5:30. Teams that have the late practice will have a team study hall from 3:30-4:10. During the study hall, students will have time to get homework done, but coaches will sometimes use this time for team building activities and chalk talk sessions.

The early-late schedule will be alternated amongst the teams. Students can be picked up from the Middle School circle after the early practice or be dismissed to YAP. Practices will be listed on the Athletics Google calendar. Learn how to access that at

When practicing off campus, students will be dismissed from school early and practice from 3:15-4:15. You can pick your child up from the off campus site. They will return to Gordon by 4:30 or 4:45 and be picked up from the Middle School circle. If you are not picking up your child at this time they will be dismissed to YAP.

Students will be bussed to and from games and off-campus practices.

Parents can take kids home after games and practices instead of traveling back to school. Students and coaches riding the bus must be masked with some windows open.

Estimated arrival times for busses will be listed on the Google calendar.

Parents will receive a text from the safety app if there are any delays or changes in the schedule.

Spectators, home and away

Schools have coordinated their safety plans so that similar strategies will in be place at home and away games.

Parents will receive a text from the safety app if games are cancelled, or if pick up times or ETAs change.
