August soccer clinic

Photos are from the annual student-faculty soccer game from 2021. All the eighth graders play against the faculty and staff in a match that is the model of friendly competition Gordon's athletics program strives for at every level.

We are offering a preseason soccer clinic during the second full week of August.

This will be a wonderful opportunity for our student athletes to be active and come together to do something they enjoy in a place they love.

All players are welcome, and there is no obligation to compete in the fall season. Again, this is meant to be friendly play purely for the joy of it.

Coach Julio Barba will head this with help from Jake Castro. Both of them have coached previously at Gordon. Coach Barba Coach Castro has NCAA and semi-pro playing experience, and has been a Juventus Academy Boston Coach and a USSF National C licensed coach.

The details

Dates: Monday August 16th – Thursday August 19th
Times: 5:15pm - 6:30pm

Gordon needs up-to-date physical forms for anyone participating in the clinic (or attending school in September!).

COVID precautions

As of today, these are the COVID precautions planned for the soccer clinic:

Everyone on Gordon’s campus will be asked to complete a daily health screening and submit the results before coming to campus.

Complete the screening questions in the safety app. If your family is new to Gordon this fall, you can learn how to download the app at If your child is cleared to be on campus, you will receive a green pass. Be prepared to show your child’s green pass at morning check in.

Students will be placed in one of two stable groups. Students will play in groups that will remain stable throughout the week, led by the same, dedicated coach.

Stable groups will remain distanced from one another. Currently mask use is not required outdoors in Rhode Island.

Students should bring masks with them for use when necessary as directed by the coach.

Masks will not be required for outdoor activities when six feet of distance can be maintained.

Sixth, seventh and eighth grade families are required to fill out the vaccination status form by August 15th. That may be found in the parent portal at
