The Britt Nelson Fund has been bringing professional visual artists into Gordon’s classrooms since 1997.

For the twelfth year of the program, three artists have been chosen to
participate

Each of the three offer a different perspective on the theme “inspired by nature.”

Sculptor Ben Anderson will work with the seventh and eighth grade visual arts elective from January to April. He will be supporting Mrs. Dumville’s ceramic studies, with a focus on molded forms from nature and painting with glazes.

Amy Bartlett Wright, who is a scientific illustrator, will work with Mrs. Dumville’s second grade in April during their study of fish. She will also lead Gordon’s science faculty in a workshop on nature journaling at the RISD Nature Lab, and lead an all-faculty workshop on illustration to enhance teachers’ classroom practice. She also will give students two presentations on her mural work.
