Where masks have always been in style

Middle School theater thrives under pandemic conditions

Wearing masks has been no challenge for the Middle School actors this fall.

Over fifty fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders have been working after school all fall on four different productions that are almost ready to be filmed and shared.

Starting with the idea of theatrical styles that use masks, source material includes Sophocles' Antigone, Marvel's Squirrel Girl, Shakepeare's A Midsummer Night's Dream, and a commedia dell’ arte piece called The Scarlet Heart.

How is it going? Let's just say that production began in September, and these students are ready to keep working until break... and possibly beyond, weeks after the performances would have happened any other year.
