Welcoming Eric Velasquez

Thank you to illustrator Eric Velasquez for coming to campus today and meeting with Kindergarten to sixth grade.

 

Velasquez delighted students with a close look at his creative process.

 

That close look included a live drawing of a Gordon second grader. Students got to look over Mr. Velasquez’s shoulder, virtually, thanks to a video projector, while peppering him with questions.
 

For librarian Frances Martindale, part of the thrill of today’s visit was introducing Velasquez, author of ¡Mambo Mucho Mambo! The Dance That Crossed Color Lines, with Gordon’s own Rodney López, a former professional Salsa dancer and current leader of Gordon’s ballroom dance program.
