The Gordon School

Unafraid of the dark

Nursery design challenge leads them into the shadows

Nursery’s new disco ball was not as spectacular as everyone had been hoping it would be.

The class knew the problem lay somewhere in the difference between light and darkness.

Research began.

How do lights light things up?

What if they are nearby? Far away?

Where do shadows come from?

Does the size of a light make a difference?

How are some lights colored lights?

What color is a regular light?

Where are the dark places at Gordon?

What’s the difference between dark and shadowy?

How dark is fun?

How dark is too dark?

The culminating project will be to transform their classroom’s dramatic play space into a dedicated Dark House.

Stop by if you get a chance.

It won’t be scary.

And the disco ball should be working well by then.
