The Gordon School

The start of something big

It's sharing day in Nursery today.

One student wore their skeleton suit.

Another brought in motorcycle equipment.

This one shared a crown they made with their brother and father.

And this one had a garbage truck.

It might look like a little thing.

But it's the start of something big.

Sharing day is a first step in a schoolwide multicultural curriculum that compels students to connect their classroom experience with their lives outside of Gordon.

Over the years, these students will build a strong sense of who they are.

They will learn to share their own stories in authentic ways.

Every step of the way, each student will also be practicing listening to their classmates.

While they learn to advocate for themselves, they'll also learn to stand up for each other.

They'll end with the instinct for empathy - and the critical listening skills - that eventually will allow them to be advocates for people they don't know, and become, in the words of Gordon's mission, intellectual leaders with a drive for positive societal impact.
