Patience and persistence, math and literacy
Growing food takes persistence and patience, and math and literacy.
Young Kindergarten is tapping the trees in the front circle to make syrup later this winter.
They began with some background reading.
Then, they started books of their own.
They thanked the trees, then drilled holes and hung buckets.
Each day, the class goes out to collect the new harvest.
They measure each day’s take, and record it in a graph in their books.
It’s a slow process, and Young Kindergarten can feel the community’s support.
Ask a Young Kindergartener about it; maybe you’ll get an invite to the pancake feast somewhere down the line.
