Remembering Artemis Joukowksky

Grandfather to Elena and Oliver

It is with great sadness that we share that Artemis A. W. Joukowksky passed away this weekend.

Joukowsky's family was deeply involved in the life of the Gordon School during the 1990s, 2000s, and beyond, beginning when his grandchild Elena enrolled in Nursery in 1998. Elena and Oliver Joukowsky both attended Gordon through eighth grade; Elena graduated in 2009 and Oliver in 2013.

Joukowsky's son and daughter-in-law, Misha and Jane, were actively engaged in the Gordon community during their children's time here, with Jane serving as trustee and treasurer of the school from 2001 to 2011. Their family played a key role in the design and construction of Gordon's library, named in their honor. Artemis's spouse Martha was also a frequent guest in Gordon's fifth grade, sharing her archaeology experience with students during their study of ancient cultures.

A full obituary, with information about memorials, was published in today's Providence Journal.
