Reigning math champs return to the competition

In one week, Gordon's championship math team will return to the state MathCounts competition at CCRI.

The team is made up of the ten high scorers on an exam that over one hundred Gordon sixth, seventh and eighth graders took in January.

Gordon's teams have earned first place in both the team and individual rankings three times in the past four years.

The Gordon teams have also stood out at the competition by having a strong mix of ages and genders, and this group is no exception.

Ten years ago, Gordon committed to create a schoolwide math curriculum that engages and challenges every student.

Gordon has followed through, with time and resources.

That work has led to championships for the top students.

But it's also created a passion for math that can bring the whole school together in support of math for everyone.
