Picture books that include everyone

Last Thursday, Middle Schoolers from Gordon's Gender and Sexuality Alliance made virtual visits to Early Childhood and Lower School classrooms, sharing picture books that represent the voices and experience of transgender and non-binary youth.

The books were drawn from Gordon's carefully curated 17,000 volume library of world-class multicultural literature.

The readalouds were a celebration of the annual Jazz & Friends National Day of School and Community Readings.

As Gordon students, parents and teachers know, picture books provide a simple way for children of all genders to see themselves represented... and celebrated!

In addition to the live Zoom readings, three students shared prerecorded readalouds, embedded below, that are ready to go anytime for anyone who needs a story.

And for parents... here's a faculty presentation on inclusive picture books, from last February
