Gordon's outdoors in new book

Lessons from Maxfield Avenue serve as case studies

Gordon has been teaching outdoors since the school was founded in 1910 as an open-air school.

This tradition has helped Gordon prepare for this fall, and it also got the school into a new book for education professionals.

Gordon's outdoors is the setting of seven case studies included in Sky Above and the Mud Below: Lessons from Nature Preschools and Forest Kindergartens, a new book by David Sobel.

The lessons were written up by former Gordon Kindergarten teacher Hannah Lindler-Finley, and many current fifth graders are included in the photos.

Congratulations Ms. Linder-Finley, and to everyone else involved in this project. Gordon is proud to be a part of any effort to help bring schools outdoors.

Two of the lessons in the book were also covered on Gordon's blog:
