Gordon leaves its mark on Providence

There was a strong showing from the Gordon family today as Farm Fresh Rhode Island celebrated a milestone in the construction of their new facility in Providence.

As the final beam was set in place atop the frame, contractors, partners and funders were on hand to celebrate alongside Farm Fresh staff, including Gillian Lang '01, representing the 1772 Foundation, alumni parents Sheri Griffin and Kerrie Donahue, and parent Clayton Rockefeller.

All four put their signatures on the final beam, which then became a permanent part of the Farm Fresh RI Food Hub. The hub will serve as a permanent home for the Wintertime Farmers Market (where Gordon put in another strong showing this Saturday).

Lang has left her mark on Gordon's facility, as well, and was back on campus in November to help open the Class of 2001's time capsule at the 2000's decade reunion.

Another connection was made at the Farm Fresh site this morning when Kurt Gustafson of CASE Construction saw the Gordon group gathered.

His grandfather, Clifford Gustafson, was part of the team that built Gordon's East Providence facility in the early 1960s, and his family has continued to work at Gordon, most recently on the Commons in 2014.

A Gordon Gear gift basket goes to the first person who can correctly identify where Ms. Lang's elephant and Mr. Gustafson's citation are on Gordon's campus. Email news@gordonschool.org.
