Gordon at WaterFire

Lighting ceremony honors faculty and staff

On Saturday night, over six hundred students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni families and members of the Gordon extended family came together at WaterFire.

It was the first WaterFire lighting of the season, and Gordon brought children's activities, music, and line dancing with Rodney López.

Head of School Noni Thomas López kicked off the evening with these remarks:

The first time we had Gordon at WaterFire was when Rodney and I were welcomed into the community. link

The next time was when we revealed our strategic vision for a more just and sustainable world. link

Tonight, after two years away from each other, we are back here at Gordon WaterFire.

What all three of those events have in common is that every time we come together we are celebrating what makes Gordon so special: our community.

Gordon has always worked to be a place where everyone can find a place to belong.

Tonight we have generations of people who found a place to belong at Gordon, who saw themselves in the curriculum, in the teachers, in the leadership, and they saw themselves in this school's commitment to make this world a better place.

What I've learned over the past two years, in the ways the Gordon community has been there for one another, I now know that we belong to one another.

We are here to celebrate the people who made so much possible, since Gordon's founding but especially over these past two years: our amazing faculty and staff.

Over two hundred photos of the evening, taken by Janet Moscarello, are now online
