Dear Friends of Gordon,
In this time of uncertainty, there's a fundamental truth that gives us hope: that together we can do extraordinary things. Since the beginning of this crisis, the entire world has been coming together in ways that we seek to model and inspire here at Gordon. Whether that's through donations to community organizations, celebrating doctors and nurses at shift changes, or reaching out to a neighbor to help with groceries, generosity has been helping the entire world get through this global pandemic.
On May 5, 2020, Gordon School is participating in #GivingTuesdayNow, a global day of unity and giving. I hope you will consider including Gordon in your giving that day.
Over the past six weeks, Gordon has had to respond to new challenges with courage, imagination, hard work, and compassion. Our newly built Online Learning Community has been rooted in our mission and has drawn on capacities this school has been building over one hundred and ten years: creativity, resourcefulness, resiliency and a willingness to keep the faith, in Gordon and in one another.
We've also been relying on the support of donors like you and hundreds of other parents, grandparents, faculty, alumni and members of our extended family. And while we celebrate all the wonderful learning that is taking place in this virtual environment, we simply cannot continue to do this without your support.
Our country is facing prolonged economic uncertainty, and lessons from the 2008 recession suggest Gordon will need significant resources to be prepared to face the challenges ahead. The generosity of our donors will be crucial as we continue to innovate our academic program, maintain salaries and benefits for our talented faculty and staff, invest in our campus and facilities, and build a financial foundation strong enough to provide families the flexibility they will need as they weather the coming storm.
#GivingTuesdayNow is an opportunity for everyone in our community to give to the essential work that allows us to continue to offer Gordon's unique educational experience and maintain our community, both now and on the other side of this crisis.
If you doubt for a moment that Gordon is a community worth investing in, I ask you to watch the video below:
It highlights just a few of the ways that Gordon community members responded to the crisis this spring with smart efforts that reflected their own diverse passions and are rooted in the same values as Gordon's mission. Even more examples are at www.gordonschool.org/helpers.
I know that everyone is not in position to give right now. If you are, any donation is welcome and appreciated. You can give by visiting our website at www.gordonschool.org/give and making a one-time or recurring gift.
Thank you for being a part of the Gordon family. I hope you are healthy and safe, and I look forward to the time when we can all meet on campus again. I am deeply grateful for your support.
