Fifth graders report on the reporter

TV journalist was on campus to learn about fifth grade ballroom dancing

On Monday, Jessica Botelho of NBC10 came to Gordon to do a report on the fifth grade ballroom dancing class, which runs for ten weeks this spring.

Her piece is online here.

While she was here, reporters from the fifth and sixth grade newspaper turned the tables on her for a short interview:

Why did you want to do a segment on fifth grade dance?
I think it’s neat coming together and learning something new and working together to do that.

Why did you become a reporter?
I always loved English class when I was little and then when I got to college I felt like I found what I was meant to do. I like talking to people about people and what they like to do.

What do you like about dancing?
I like how you move your body, you keep moving. Also it is good exercise. It’s also good to learn how to work with another person and learn how socialize.

How long have you been working?
I’ve been working for fifteen years.

What’s your favorite thing you’ve reported?
I like talking to children. I like hearing what they have to say because there’s always a new perspective. Most news interviews adults so children are a new perspective.

Thanks to Ms. Botelho for her thoughtful and enthusiastic engagement. She even posted footage of herself dancing with Mr. López to Instagram, and called the student interview the "#bestpartofmyday".
