Congratulations... again

Latest in a long string of successes for math team

Congratulations to Gordon's math team, who came in second in today's statewide MathCounts competition, with two students advancing to the final eight in the individual competition. One Gordon seventh grader placed fourth in the individuals, and will go on to help represent Rhode Island at the national competition.

It is the latest in a long string of successes for Gordon at MathCounts, with four first place showings in the past six team competitions. Gordon students have been included in the Rhode Island team at the nationals every year since 2015.

Gordon's competitive success is just one of many benefits of a longterm investment the school has made in math instruction, a schoolwide effort to give every learner multiple ways to find success in math.

Gordon parents are invited to learn more about math instruction, and try some activities straight out of Gordon's curriculum, at a curriculum spotlight Tuesday at 6:30pm.
