Challenging assumptions

Snow is an outdoor thing.
 

Isn’t it?
 

There were some special school supplies required for Nursery science class today:
 

Winter gloves 
 

And a wheelbarrow full of snow.
 

Students each got a pile of snow to explore. 
 

Mr. Terry made a special solution nearby.
 

This group knows that volcanoes are hot and red. 
 

What would it be like, he asked, if a volcano was cold?
 

And if hot lava is red, what color would it be if it was cold?
 

He combined water, dishwashing soap, food coloring and vinegar and packed them under the snow.
 

Then he added baking soda, and an eruption ensued.
 

It looked cold.
 

Was it cold? 
 

Fingers were dipped, curiosities were satisfied.

Senses were stimulated and assumptions were challenged.

Another successful Nursery science class was in the books.
