Bringing out their best

The Young Kindergarten meal of gratitude

Young Kindergarten grew and harvested these potatoes.

They’re serving them tomorrow.

The guest list is a small group of faculty and staff that the students feel especially grateful for.

When students are this emotionally invested in a lesson, you get their best work.

The meal also includes store bought green beans, chicken and fruit salad, spaghetti squash with pesto from the garden, and handmade ice cream.

It’s a lesson that has stretched their math and literacy skills, and compelled them to practice leadership, collaboration, and kindness along with basic manners.

It’s an ambitious project, but, after they’ve chosen the guests, grown the food and planned the menu, these students are committed to pulling this off with grace and style.
