Eighth graders talk justice, activism on PBS
Thank you to Anaridis Rodriguez and the team at Rhode Island PBS’ Generation Rising for inviting Gordon eighth graders to talk about the Civil Rights Trip.
The Gordon crew taped a half hour show today to be aired later this year.
For the past twenty-two years, Gordon has taken the eighth grade to Georgia and Alabama to meet with veterans of the Civil Rights Movement and activists working for change today.
It’s the culmination of a schoolwide curriculum aimed at producing graduates who know how to bring about positive change in communities.
Press opportunities like today’s taping give Gordon a chance to spread the message of the trip.
They also allow students to practice using their voices to spread the word about ideas that are close to their hearts.
