The Gordon School

A winter dance party for the whole family

When Gordon hired Head of School Noni Thomas López, the school also got an arts education legend: her spouse, dancer and nonprofit administrator Rodney López.

Mr. López is the executive director of Dancing Classrooms, which provides children’s ballroom dance classes in public schools in New York and in twenty-two other cities across its global network.

Dancing Classrooms’ mission is to cultivate essential life skills through the practice of social dance.

He brought that mission to life in August when he ran Gordon's faculty and staff through a lesson during the faculty's first days back on campus.

Mr. López now invites all of Rhode Island - young and old, Gordon and beyond - to a Family Dance Day on Saturday, December 15th, at 11am. He’ll lead all ages through the basics of merengue, tango, and swing before letting loose on the dance floor to high-energy tunes.

It is free and open to the public, and RSVP's are appreciated, to help with the planning of the event. RSVP now and then tell a friend!
