Gordon will continue to enroll students with a balance of race, gender and economic backgrounds
We are deeply concerned by the Supreme Court’s decision to strike down affirmative action at institutions of higher education. This ruling limits the ability of colleges and universities to make thoughtful, informed decisions about the students they can admit.
A racially diverse student body contributes to the success of every student, and Gordon will continue to enroll students who provide our community with a balance of race, gender and economic backgrounds. Racial diversity is a priority for our faculty and our school leadership, as well as among our families, and we have seen it have an enduring, positive impact on our graduates.
Gordon committed to racial diversity thirty years ago, and since then, families, faculty and staff have been drawn to Gordon specifically for the opportunity to learn alongside people whose experiences are different from their own.
Over the last fifty years, our global cultures and economies have become deeply connected. Graduates are going to need to know how to navigate a richly diverse world. By sustaining a racially diverse school, and bringing that diversity into the lessons we teach, Gordon provides all students with experiences that will benefit them throughout their lives.
