The Gordon School

A joyful noise

The year-end assembly in the great outdoors

The year-end assembly was truly a joyful noise, with ukuleles, bagpipes, a cello and a violin, keyboards, guitars, drums, coffee cans, body percussion and hundreds of voices lifted in song.

There was even a skit, as Dr. Thomas López drew two fifth graders—fresh from last week's performance of Nicholas Nickleby—into her annual reading from that *other* Dickens work, A Christmas Carol.

All three divisions of the school were represented in the outdoor showcase that looked and sounded fabulous, thanks to a great deal of behind-the-scenes work and a lucky break with the weather.

The show was bookended by exceptional bagpipe-driven performances of the school song and an AC/DC number from the seventh and eighth grade band. That last song had everyone on their feet for a cathartic close to the morning, and to the year.
