A day on

Welcoming and working with students with a full range of learning styles.

Today was a day off for Gordon students, but a day on for staff and faculty as they gathered for a full day of workshops and meetings.

The day began with School Counselor Hallie Riggs and Learning Support Coordinator Annie White offering practical strategies for welcoming and working with students with a full range of learning styles.

Faculty, staff, administrators and members of the after school team played out scenarios set in classrooms, at recess, in the lunch room and at dismissal.

Then, everyone broke out into small group meetings, and faculty gathered by grades to drill down into the ways Gordon’s commitment to neurodiversity plays out with their students.

Counselor Hallie Riggs will be back at the podium next Thursday, February 13th at 6:30pm for Raising Emotionally Healthy Children in Challenging Times, a workshop for Gordon parents. She and Nurse Erin Moffett will talk through strategies in use in Gordon’s classrooms and give parents tools to introduce those same techniques at home. Gordon parents can RSVP at www.gordonschool.org/healthychildren
