Joy, generosity, love and hard work combine on 401Gives
The Gordon community surprised itself on Friday.
It was 401Gives, a statewide day of giving.
Parents, alumni, faculty and staff, and the whole extended Gordon family rallied for an astonishing show of support for the school.
By midnight on Friday, they had blown past the goal of $20,000 to bring in pledges and gifts totaling over $45,000.
It was a demonstration of love, but it was also a show of curiosity.
Students, faculty and staff had collaborated on a series of video challenges that were posted online as different giving levels were reached.
Each one was mission-related, but none of them were terribly serious.
By the time the last one was unveiled, viewers had toured the campus, seen some familiar faces, met some new ones, laughed out loud, winced a little, and participated in a celebration of a community that understands how joy, generosity, love and hard work can combine in a potent mix.
