A book lover's dream come true

Third graders set aside a day to read all they want

What if there was a day when you could read as much as you wanted to?

Third grade finds out every year, when Read All Day day arrives at the end of October.

Students spend the day in cozy gear, armed with snacks, reading to their hearts’ content.

The tradition began a few years back as a solution to the challenge of the day after Halloween.

A day of reading was a positive accommodation for overtired, sugar-crashed students.

This year, the day after Halloween is a Saturday, but Read All Day day lives on.

It’s a grand finale to the third grade October reading challenge, which is driven by a delightful Book Bingo card.

It’s a wholesome way to connect students with new books and reconnect them with old favorites.

And it’s a simple way to make special event out of something as fundamental as reading.
