Dear Gordon parents,
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement and vision for technology at Gordon in the coming school year.
This summer I began my tenure as the Director of Technology. After spending several years in various technology-related positions in New York and Massachusetts independent schools, I decided to join the wonderful Gordon faculty and staff in their mission to provide your children with a richly diverse and engaging learning experience.
With the mission in mind, my vision and hope is to equip Gordon students, faculty, and staff with the technology tools and support that will aid in their multicultural practice, inspire “joyful learning,” and “encourage intellectual leadership.” I believe Gordon can make significant progress towards the goals set out in the mission by using technology to ensure equitable access to information resources, address differentiated learning styles, and provide new and exciting ways for students to connect with the curriculum and the world around them.
With your help and feedback, I also plan to offer more opportunities for you to learn about the technologies your children are using inside and outside the classroom in order to better guide their use. As you gear up for the school year, I encourage you to think about ways Gordon can better support you and your children around technology.
In addition to my role as technology director, I will be getting to know some of your children through the eighth grade advisory program. This is an important opportunity for me to connect with students and remain informed about their experiences in the classroom. I am looking forward to working with you and your children and I hope to continue the discussion around leveraging technology to personalize learning.
Sincerely,
Marlon Henry
Director of Technology
