Auction item 5
Unexpected landscapes

• Theresa Ganz ‘Untitled (Paper Empires Series) 2020, Archival inkjet, collage on panel, 20"x16"

• Wild Arc Lemon of Pink

Value: $2,200
Starting bid: $450
Minimum bid increments: $50

As traditional photography feels too passive for artist Theresa Ganz (a current Gordon parent!), she instead manipulates her photos to create hand-cut photographic collages. In order to explore themes of romanticism, artificial nature, and man's relationship to the environment, Ganz prints photos of plants and landscapes, adding a hand element by painting on them and carefully cutting away the background. Inspired by her interest in the history of landscape painting and landscape photography, along with the vast, seemingly endless nature of the landscape, Ganz aims to create pieces that immerse viewers within the environment rather than remove them as merely distant spectators. Ganz's work strives to depict a stylized model of nature, thus allowing these organic compositions to come into contact with the sublime.

Ganz has shown her work in several solo exhibitions at galleries including the Evans Contemporary in Peterborough, Canada, Bell Gallery at Brown University in Rhode Island, Steven Wolf Fine Art in San Francisco, and Diego Rivera Gallery in San Francisco. Additionally, her work has been included in countless group shows nationally at galleries such as the Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago, Open Aperture Gallery in Newport, Rhode Island, Aqua Art Fair in Miami, Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco, and internationally at the Datz Museum of Art in Seoul, Korea. In 2015 she was awarded the ArtSlant Prize, Humanities Research Fund Award, and MJR Projects in Residence.

Wild Arc Farm is in the Hamlet of Pine Bush, “The Gateway to the Gunks,” in the Mid-Hudson Valley. The Hudson Valley has been at the heart of New York State's food production for hundreds of years. It is also home to both the oldest and the longest continually operating wineries in the United States. We believe that the granitic soils of the area and the Atlantic and Catskills influenced microclimates can grow world-class wines. Lemon of Pink is Wild Arc’s first Botanical Spritzer! Piquette and Riesling as the base, fortified with a bit of grape spirit and infused with Lemon Basil grown on the farm and foraged Sumac. The botanicals were infused directly into two tanks of the base wine for 3 months before being strained out and blended. The wine was then bottled with organic wildflower honey and bottled to referment.

Auction item 6
Wearable art

• Joseph Brooks lapis lazuli, pyrite and onyx necklace, natural stones hand knotted on 18" necklace with sterling silver closure

Lindquist Object is a luxury leather design and manufacturing studio based in Providence, Rhode Island. At Lindquist, we are committed to the creation of pieces that are timeless, that transcend trends and are intended to age with grace. Our designs are clean and architectural, drawing on a vocabulary of natural forms and prioritizing structural integrity and functional precision. We use exclusively vegetable tanned and naturally dyed leather in finishes that we develop in collaboration with a 100-year old family run tannery — artisans who share our respect for the social, economic and ecological considerations inherent to this work. We believe that our objects should last generations, and we know that to hand them down with pride to those that follow, we all need to produce and consume in a sustainable and ethical way.

The jewelry of current Gordon grandfriend Joseph Brooks embodies sensuality and strength, handcraft and raw beauty, the bedrock and punk rock. With an interest in stone properties and energies, from tourmaline to spirit quartz to black onyx, every piece in his extensive line highlights the true essence of each handpicked stone. Drawn initially to American turquoise which is difficult to find in a world of mostly fake and dyed stones. He finally located a mine in northern Arizona whose owners have been operating and producing spectacular turquoise since 1962. These stones inspired Joseph to begin designing a jewelry collection featuring this signature Southwest stone. The collection has grown over time and now includes over 70 different natural undyed gems and crystals.

Elyse Allen Textiles is a small homegrown knitwear studio located in beautiful Santa Fe, New Mexico. Elyse and her team design and produce cashmere accessories in a spacious loft in a green community full of artists, yoga studios, perfume designers and generally good people. We carefully knit, wash, felt, steam, finish, block, hand sew, meticulously seam, embellish, and painstakingly make each piece by hand with love. Everything that comes out of the studio is made with care and made to stand the test of time. We believe in wasting nothing and caring about everything.
