Welcome to Nursery at Gordon. Our program is defined by growth and
development socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually through
experiential and constructive learning.
As we work towards a cooperative and cohesive classroom through play, we
celebrate each other’s similarities and differences. We enjoy offering opportunities for your child to continue
developing his or her authentic identity by understanding how social awareness
goes hand in hand where race, gender, family culture and history play a
role. Come join us in a year
exploding with joyful learning through questions, exploration, and
investigation.
Maryjane Heymann has taught grades Nursery through second grade for the past 38 years and has a Masters in Elementary Education, with a
concentration in Early Childhood Education. She has been teaching in the Nursery classroom at Gordon since 1984. Maryjane has a
long and loving personal history with Gordon as she was a student here
from Nursery through eighth grade, graduating in 1965. Her greatest joy is to witness,
experience, and be a part of a young child’s growth and flowering in the
process of becoming.

Kim Trant came to Gordon School in 2009 as both a substitute teacher and a teacher in the Gordon Gator after school program. She joined the Nursery team in the fall of 2011. Kim is a native of Barrington, RI. She graduated Barrington High School in 2005. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education and Social Sciences from Keene State College in 2009. She is joyfully excited to experience the love and fun that each nursery child shares and eager to develop strong relationships with the families of each student.
