Providence Children's Film Festival

Providence Children’s Film Festival movie night
Thursday, October 26th, 5:30-7pm

Gordon has been a supporter of this Providence Children’s Film Festival for many years, and we are thrilled host them for two evenings this year that dive into themes that students are engaging with at Gordon every day. The October night will be for all ages; another one that is more appropriate for Middle School will happen in January.

Get out your blankets and beach chairs, families. Pack a dinner picnic or pick up takeout and set up in our theater with your family and friends as we welcome the Providence Children's Film Festival to Gordon!

“No other parents were that fun. Everybody wanted to be at our house.” Mary Mills grew up as an only child in the 1960s in a quiet neighborhood near Santa Monica, California. Although Mary didn’t have siblings to play with, she was never lonely. There were plenty of children nearby, and they all wanted to be at her house to hang out with Mary’s mother, Joyce Carter Mills. At StoryCorps, Mary brought her mom to tell her why she was “the mom every other kid wanted.”

Nimbus is whimsical story about a worker cloud who lives in Cloud City – an imaginary world in the sky. One day, his somewhat menial daily life is interrupted by a small surprise at work. As his day takes a turn, he finds himself thrown into an entirely new and unexpected world. With its charming characters and a backdrop of epic painted cloudscapes, this film reminds us of the small joys and bits of magic we encounter in our daily lives.
