Gordon’s Middle School robotics team wrapped up a successful season yesterday, with a strong showing at the FIRST LEGO League State Competition at Roger Williams University.

Gordon’s Cybergators arrived at the statewide tournament fresh from a championship victory at their qualifying tournament in November. At yesterday’s event, judges stated how the team’s camaraderie and teamwork were evident as they confidently communicated their research project and completed their Core Values challenge. Judges were also impressed with their robot design, being the only team to use easy to switch out attachments with the help of a "dog gear."

Gordon’s robotics team is the most visible part of a robotics engineering curriculum that is integrated into every student’s experience. In the days leading up to yesterday’s tournament, Gordon’s youngest students were beginning their own robotics journeys in Gordon’s Early Childhood STEAM Lab.

Gordon’s after school robotics opportunities continue next week, as fifth and sixth graders come together in a Tuesday afternoon enrichment to begin work on Gordon’s presentation at Rhode Island Students of the Future’s annual Robot Block Party, hosted by Brown University on Saturday April 9th.
