Three of the four alumni who competed on Sunday

It was a good weekend for fans of Gordon's competitive academics.

Representatives of Gordon's math team distinguished themselves at the statewide Math Counts competition, taking five of the top sixteen spots in the individual competition and placing third in the team results.

The math team meets weekly during lunchtime, and consists of fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth graders.

On Sunday, Gordon alumni were part of a team that made it to the quarterfinals in the Rhode Island FIRST Tech Challenge high school robotics tournament, ultimately ranking seventh out of more than thirty teams.

Andrew Bower '06, Andrew Creamer '06, Noah Fox '07 and Stephen Hall '06 were all members of the 2006 Gordon team that received multiple technology and science awards at the middle school level of the same competition, and earned themselves a trip to the international FIRST League competition that spring.
