How many years did you attend Gordon School?
Nine years, Kindergarten to eight grade
How did your Gordon experience shape who you are today?
I left Gordon as a global citizen and today find myself applying those principles in my academic pursuit to do my part in slowing (and reversing) the effects of global climate change.
Whether it was Mrs. Whinery pushing me to fully comprehend the rationales for the Civil War, Ms. Ketner explaining to me to the rigorous concept of the scientific method, or Mr. Cruise introducing me to sports played around the world, Gordon taught me to never flag in seeking the expansion of my understanding of the world and myself.
What is your fondest memory of your Gordon experience?
Winning the school Geography Bee in eighth grade. We all worked so hard on our memory maps in seventh grade and it was such a rewarding feeling to be able to put it all together on the day of the competition.
What is your funniest memory of your Gordon experience?
The eighth grade student vs. faculty/staff basketball game; Mr. Howard was dominating us. There was no denying him. Hook shots, spot-up 3’s. So I did what I had to do – I jumped on his back and took him out of the game.
How would you describe yourself today?
I am a biological engineer, an environmental scientist, and a proud Gordon alumni.
