Bill has been on the Gordon faculty for over twenty years. He plays regularly with the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble, local orchestras, and smaller ensembles, and enjoys performing in a variety of musical styles. He is the director of the Jazz Band for the Gordon's seventh and eighth grades, as well as founder and director of the Percussion Ensemble elective.

Chrys Alam will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays to teach Baroque recorder lessons. She will offer lessons in soprano, alto, or tenor recorder. Chrys has been teaching at Gordon since 1989 and has been the Lower School music teacher and instructing students in private recorder lessons after school for most of that time. (Private lessons will not conflict with general classroom instruction in soprano recorder.) She has a B.S. in Music Education from Rhode Island College. Chrys is currently working on the production of her new CD, “And Now I Know” with Boston’s well-known jazz pianist and arranger, Tom LaMark. She is also on the Advisory Board of the Boston Association of Cabaret Artists after completing her term as Vice President of the board this past June. She is a certified as an Orff instructor and in McCloskey Vocal Training, Level One.
Michelle Kaminsky Violin, fiddle 401 383-1333
Michelle Kaminsky has been teaching music and fiddle for over twenty years. She is known for her flexible teaching style and patience, inspiring a love of music in her students. Combining her background in classical violin with familiar folk songs to teach good technique, her goal is to give students a good foundation for whatever direction they go in music. Michelle started on the violin at age nine, and continued her classical studies through high school. In high school she discovered New England country dancing, and string band music, and has been hooked ever since, learning from other fiddle players for the last thirty years. Since then, playing Cajun and New England dance music, Michelle has played in many bands and currently performs with Magnolia and French Roast. Michelle has taught music at Montessori schools and early childhood centers, as well as arts-in-education residencies about Traditional American Fiddle and Dance. Michelle has had the honor of teaching fiddle as a master for the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts (RISCA). She is the director of Cajun Kids Academy at the Rhythm and Roots Festival. Michelle has a degree in elementary education, specializing in early childhood music. She is certified in Level 1 Orff, Early Childhood Kodaly and Music Together, as well as having studied the Suzuki method. Michelle offers private lessons and group experiences. On Thursdays from 3:30-4:15, she will offer Beginning Fiddle for first graders as a group class and from 4:15-5 as a group class of Beginning Fiddle for second and third graders. On Fridays at 1:30 will be a special Musical Instrument Sampler group class for Kindergarteners in the fall and in the second semester will become Intro to Fiddle Playing for Kindergarteners.

Christine (Chris) Chito is and experienced music teacher who works extremely well with children and is able to motivate with positive encouragement and patience. She has had over fifteen years of private teaching in home studio and outside studies. She is presently the Director of the After School Music Enrichment Program at Saylesville and Lonsdale Elementary Schools in Lincoln, R.I. She currently performs with the Providence Mandolin Orchestra under the direction of Mark Davis and with L’Esperance Mandolin Ensemble under the direction of Josh Bell. She has been teaching guitar as well at Sylvia Music Studio in North Smithfield.

Christopher Monti performs regularly throughout the area and composes original music. He has been nominated for and received numerous awards for his work. For the past several years, he led performances and workshops at Gordon for all three divisions.
Elena Kishkovich Piano 401 651-5175
Elena Kishkovich joined Gordon's after school instrumental faculty six years ago. A mother of four children, she holds a Master of Music degree from Moscow University and is both a piano instructor as well as a professional accompanist. Elena is also the organist and choir director at Providence Presbyterian Church in Providence, RI.

Nancy Moore, co-director of the after school instrumental program, will be teaching piano. She has a Music Education degree from the New England Conservatory. Nancy taught private piano lessons at Gordon for the past ten years and at the Wheeler Conservatory as well.

Eleanor Michaud received her degree in Applied Piano and Elementary Education from Annhurst College in Connecticut. She taught music in Kindergarten to sixth grade at Mercymount School in Cumberland, RI and until 2004 taught Kindergarten to fourth in Barrington public schools. Since graduating college, she has taught privately both piano and recorder. For fun, she ice skates competitively at a national level with a Warwick precision team.

Cheryl Faria loves to play and teach piano and is excited about helping students learn the joys of piano playing. She grew up in a musical family and began taking classical piano lessons at the age of six. Ms. Faria has dual undergraduate degrees in Music and Art Education and has a Masters degree in Business Administration. She is also certified by the Suzuki Association of the Americas. Her repertoire includes classical piano works, popular standards and original compositions. Recent performance venues include the Rhode Island College Recital Series, Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School, Studio 34 Dance Shows and the Hallworth House. When not playing or teaching piano, she works part-time for the RI Philharmonic Orchestra & Music School researching and writing grant applications. Her other passions include gardening, jazz dance, local 1600’s history and travel.
Joan Genereux Piano, saxophone, clarinet 508 678-1303
Joan Genereux has been with our instrumental faculty for well over ten years. Joan is a parent of a Gordon graduate. She plays regularly with Swinglane (a sixteen piece swing band), the OSLO orchestra, the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble and many small classical ensembles. Joan offers instruction in piano as well as in saxophone and clarinet.
Joel McCoy Piano, trumpet 401 368-5886
Joel received his Bachelor of Arts in Music History and Literature from Rhode Island College. In addition to playing piano as a soloist/accompanist, his experience also includes orchestral brass music (first trumpet at Rhode Island College) and singing tenor in early music groups. He regularly performs with Zefiro in events presented by the Society for Historically Informed Performance and the Boston Early Music Festival. |
