Dear Eighth Grade Families,
As you likely already know, eighth graders will visit
Farm School in Athol, Massachusetts from Monday, September 26, through Wednesday, September 28. Students will depart Gordon School at 8:00am on Monday and return to Gordon on Wednesday by 3:00pm.
Farm School is a working farm, and our time there will include daily activities required to maintain the farm. Farm School counselors and/or a Gordon School staff member will supervise all activities. Susan Ginn, Eric Kravitz, Gabe Burnstein, Marlon Henry and Siobhan Welsh will accompany the eighth graders this year. Please let your child’s advisor know if there are any special circumstances that we should know about your child.
Your child should bring a lunch for the first day at Farm School. Electronic devices such as iPods or cell phones are not allowed. If your child wants to bring a camera, he or she will have many opportunities to take pictures.
Please be aware that all medications, either prescriptions or over-the-counter medicines, must be sent to the school nurse in their original containers with correct dosage noted, accompanied by a doctor’s note, no later than Friday, September 23.
Please fill out
the registration form and
permission slip and return it to your child’s advisor by Monday, September 19.
We have a list of items and clothing that your child should bring that we received from Farm School. Do not over pack, as your child is responsible for carrying his or her own gear. Also, please note that rain gear is essential, as our schedule does not change based upon inclement weather.
Please feel free to contact your child’s advisor if you have any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
The Eighth Grade Team
