About Gordon >  In their own words: Bob Fine '68 >

In their own words: trustee Bob Fine '68

Why did you choose Gordon for your children?

Partly because I went there, mostly because it was a kind and gentle kid-centric place without a high school attached to it to draw focus away from the younger grades.

What do you value about Gordon for your child in particular to:

Nursery through eighth grade structure?

That was important, but equally important was the attention to the child and to a full education of good citizens of the world. As I said, not having a high school was a big plus, coupled with the fact that I did not want my child to be in the same school from Kindergarten through twelfth grade. In addition, I think Gordon was a better school than local alternatives.

Multicultural curriculum/academic program?

That really had no bearing, since my daughter started in 1992. The academic program and sensibilities of the school were important, but not so much due to a multicultural program, since my daughter’s start pre-dated that emphasis.

Diverse learning environment for their child?

It wasn’t so much the diverse learning environment as the knowledge that Gordon was going to nurture and fully prepare my children for high school and beyond.
