Founded in 1910 on the East Side of Providence, the Gordon School moved to its present location on Maxfield Avenue in East Providence in 1963. It is situated in a unique location that combines easy access from all areas of Rhode Island and neighboring Massachusetts. Students enjoy the benefits and cultural resources of the nearby city of Providence as well as the natural amenities provided by a suburban location.

The tranquil setting of the twelve-acre campus includes a pond, stream and nature trail offering students a classroom that extends beyond the traditional four-wall definition. The school’s outdoor spaces also include two playgrounds, two athletic fields, many classroom gardens and outdoor classroom spaces. The facilities include a multipurpose assembly space, science labs, two art studios, a music room, a library, computer labs and classrooms. In addition, there is a field house with a regulation size basketball court as well as boys and girls locker rooms.
