Faculty
about-05.jpg

Gordon employs 57 full and part-time teachers of whom approximately 50% hold advanced degrees with an average of 14 years of experience.
These teachers know that nothing worthy in an elementary or middle school classroom happens by chance. Their commitment to child-centered learning creates a trusting environment that requires every child to be present and focused.

Each member of the Gordon faculty is an expert on child development and a skilled facilitator of learning. Building on the cornerstone of a demanding, integrated and thematic curriculum, students learn how to research information, explore and express ideas, and problem solve both as individuals and as part of a team.

Aware of the role that gender and race play in learning, Gordon teachers create explicit opportunities for boys and girls to recognize the importance of keeping everyone’s voice in the center of the learning experience. Even as they discover their own voices and eagerly assert their place in the community, Gordon students develop an awareness of how to listen to and respect the opinions and ideas of all their classmates.

Perhaps the greatest gift Gordon teachers pass on to their students is the understanding that learning is a life-long adventure – a joyful and rewarding pursuit.
